- Die Pommerschen Leute (The Pomeranian People) is a
newsletter devoted to Pomeranian genealogy. It is published by
the Pommeranian Special Interest Group (PSIG) of the Immigrant
Genealogical Society in Burbank, CA. More information on the
origins of the newsletter is contained in our
DPL Background page.
- The Winter 2005 issue of Die Pommerschen Leute has
been mailed to subscribers. DPL is published quarterly.
- If you would like to become a DPL subscriber,
you may use this form.
- The cost of a one year subscription mailed to U.S. addresses
is US$15.00 (bulk mail) or US$18 (first class mail).
- Subscriptions mailed to non U.S addressess are US$18.00.
- Checks should be made payable to IGS-DPL.
- To accommodate subscribers in Europe, DPL now takes
payment in Euros. The cost for one year of four quarterly issue
is €20. To subscribe from a European address, write to
Editor-DPL, P.O. Box 7369, Burbank, CA 91510-7369.
- In the Fall 2001 issue, DPL began a series of articles about
archives and other means of Pomeranian research. For example, the
Winter 2001 issue included an article about an archive at
Greifwald that holds church books not available any where else.
The article listed the church books to be found there.
- This web site contains an index to
all of the articles in DPL since the IGS/PSIG took over its publication.

You may also visit the IGS home page.
2) DV News ...
- Die Vorfahren (The Ancestors) is a section of DPL that publishes genealogical data
received from DPL subscribers. This information has been collected since Myron Gruenwald
began the newsletter in 1982. To make this information more accessable, three indices
are maintained: an index to the full name of every individual mentioned in the DV items,
a place index for every town/county combination mentioned in the items, and a place index
for every county/town combination mentioned in the index.
- For more information about the DV indices see our overview in the
DV Web Database Homepage. Also see our
how to page on using these indices to
obtain copies of DV items and the most recent address of their submitters.
- The 2003 update to the Surname Index has been posted. The
Stadt and Kreis Indexes were last updated Dec 2005.
- Subscribers to Die Pommerschen Leute should send in their family information for
the Die Vorfahren portion of the DPL newsletter. There are two requirements for publication:
1) You must be a subscriber to Die Pommersche Leute, and
2) you must show Pomeranian ancestry.
For your submission, you may send an ancestor chart
or family group sheet with your earliest Pomeranian ancestor. We need the complete name,
dates, and places of birth and death, name of spouse, the spouse's dates and ancestry, date
and place of marriage, and names and dates of any children. The Kreis (county) is very
important to be included, since village names were often used repeatedly. The person's
occupation and the name of the ship can also be included. You can continue down the
family tree as many generations and branches of family as you like, but please be
mindful of privacy considerations with those that are still living. If you have
already submitted information and would like to update your submission, you may
also want to send us the new material.
Send it to: IGS/DPL, PO Box 7309, Burbank, CA 91510-7369.
