Latest Update: 12 February 2003
I am delighted to tell you there is Great News in the
Polish world of census records. Let me tell you what I have
done. I wrote letters to all the the Galicia area, of Poland's
Regional archives, all responsed postatively. All have census
records for many years and many cities.
They all did not provide lists, but the Regional archives at
Krakow gave me the following list of the surrounding
area:
- Krakow city, census for these years, 1850, 1857, 1870, 1881,
1890, 1900 and 1910
- Podgorze area, 1857, 1870, 1881, 1890, 1900 and 1910
- Czarna Wies area, 1848
- Polwsie Zwierzynieckie area, 1848, 1853 and 1853
- Zwierzyniec area, 1848 and 1853.
There are also documents for the years 1857, 1870, 1881,
1890, 1900 and 1910.
Other Regional Archives: The following Regional archives
responsed postitively: Czestochowa, Rzeszow, Kielce, and
Przemysl. Other archives may (and proably do) have census
records.
For the town of Tarnobrzeg, I can tell you postively there are
records in Sandomierzc for the year 1880 and 1796. In the
archives at Przemysl, there are records for Tarnobrzeg for the
years of 1888 and 1786. For the town of Mielec, there are
records in Rzeszow, for Lubartow, there are records in Lublin,
for Nisko, the records are found in Przemysl. In Radom you can
find Radom records.
For the best news of ALL. Two books will be published this year
listing ALL of Poland's census records, stay turned. Now, please
do not e-mail me or John Movius asking for details we do not
have yet. We will let you know as soon as we know more.
